Client Success Story: Matteo Gentile

Insurance premiums increases can happen to the best of us. For some, they are an unpleasant surprise, but Matteo Gentile was not caught unaware. In fact, his personal insurance premium had increased earlier this month. Part of this increase was because his daughter, a young driver, had been added to the policy.Matteo says rates always seem to increase, but he plans to evaluate alternatives as his policies come up for renewal. Dealing with rate increases, Matteo says to take them with a grain of salt.Matteo, a long-time Shepherd Group client, had recently moved his personal insurance to TSG, adding to his current commercial insurance portfolio with the company, citing convenience as his reason.Although most car and home insurance policies are similar between insurance companies, there are certain perks and add ons that vary. Moreover, there were differences in coverage among the policies available to Matteo.Generally, standard home insurance policies have a clause stating that regardless of the amount listed on the policy, the total amount of a loss is covered. That means while a policy may cover $300,000 worth of costs to rebuild your house in the event of a total loss, it will cover costs above that level should they occur. In fact, Matteo got more coverage in some areas, ultimately saving $1000 a year.To do so, Cristina Goncalves, Operations Manager for TSG, performed the remarket process to secure Matteo the savings. Remarketing is when a broker sources alternate solutions for their clients. As brokers, our role is to understand our clients’ needs based on their lifestyle. Improving the client experience means putting oneself in the client’s position and seeing things from their point of view. This positions us to better put their clients in the know once we understand the information clients are seeking.
